DIY- Paper Shamrock☘️🇮🇪

Tomorrow is St. Patrick’s Day so I decided to make a St. Patrick’s Day decoration. This paper shamrock was very easy to make and is hanging proudly in my granny’s sitting room below her picture of The Sacred Heart. These are easy to make, a crafty idea for something fun to do if you are babysitting or a teacher.

You will need:
  • Green Scrapbook Paper or Card (can be one colour or two shades of green)
  • Glue
  • Ribbon, yarn or string (optional)

Cut your paper into 1.5 inch wide strips. You will need 4 strips of each shade of green to make the shamrock leaves. Cut the strips so they are 8 inch length.  This will allow it to nest inside the larger part of the leaf. For the stem, you will need 1 strip of your color choice. Cut 4 strips that are 1.5 inch wide and 12 inch length for the larger hearts.

Fold your strips in half, curl each strip and glue the ends together to form a heart.

To assemble the leaf, place a line of glue in the fold of the larger heart. Place a small heart into the fold. On the smaller heart, put a line of glue where the ends come together. Place the ends of the larger heart into the smaller heart to connect them. Repeat for all the leaves.

To assemble the shamrock, glue the hearts together where the points come together. Make sure the stem is in the middle of the shamrock. Here is the layout for putting it together.

String yarn through the shamrock if you wish to hang it up.

Happy St. Patricks Day to my subscribers☘️

DIY- Paper Heart Garland❤️

This simple Paper Heart Garland is a fun addition to your Valentine’s Day Decor. This decoration would look lovely in a bedroom or even at a bridal party or baby shower. It doesn’t take long to make this garland depending on how many hearts you add.  You can use different size strips if you want hearts of different sizes on your Valentine’s Day Garland.

You will need:
  • 12 x 12 Scrapbook Paper
  • Scissors
  • Ruler
  • Glue
  • Hole Punch
  • Twine

Cut two strips of scrapbook paper for each heart. My paper strips measured 30cm x 2.5cm each.

Fold the strip of paper in half. Measure from the top of the folded strip down 9cm and punch a hold through both sides. Curve in the tops so that it forms a heart shape and staple the two ends together to form a heart.

String one heart with twine and leave enough room on the end heart so you can hang your garland. Then tie a knot on one side of the heart. Tie another knot on the other side of the heart. String another heart onto the twine and then secure it in place with a knot on each side of the second heart. Continue along with each heart until you have all of the hearts on the garland.

Happy Valentine’s Day to all of my loyal subscribers❤️💛🤍

DIY- Fairy Glow Jars🧚

You will need:

Mason Jars (I used 3)

Glow sticks

Scissors

Glitter (optional)

Break the Glow Sticks.

Teenage disco throwback

Cut each end of the glowstick (wearing protective lab gloves) (I also wore an apron to protect my clothes)

Allow the contents of the glowstick to drip into the jar/ shake the glowsticks in the jar.

You can mix the colours if you want. I put green into one jar, yellow& blue into the second and pink& orange into the third.

Add some glitter. Put on the lid and shake the jar so the contents of the glow stick and glitter is swirled around. Place the lid back on.

Turn out the lights!

DIY- How to Wrap a (Gift) Box🎁

Christmas is coming 🎄These boxes can be filled with whatever gifts you like. I bought the boxes in a discount store and wrapped them with Christmas wrapping paper. You can also decorate these boxes using ribbons or Christmas labels. You can use crepe paper or clear wrapping paper to line your box if you wish. Fill your gift box(es) and place them under the Christmas tree🎄

You will need:
  • (Christmas) Wrapping paper
  • Scissors
  • Sticky tape
  • Empty carboard box
Place the lid on the paper and cut wrapping paper

Place the lid of the box faced down on your wrapping paper, leaving the paper attached to roll. Use scissors to cut paper along one side, making a wide enough sheet to cover both sides of the box. There should be an inch extra to fold over each side.

Fold the long sides up and over the lid

Tape the wrapping paper to the inside edge of the lid as pictured and repeat on the other side.

Repeat on all sides. Take the end sections and fold just like wrapping a regular box.

lid.
Repeat these steps with the box.
Cut wrapping paper

Place the box on the wrapping paper and cut the wrapping paper, making sure there is enough to cover each side of the box.

Fold the paper along the edges and tape to the sides of the box.

Repeat for all four sides.

DIY- Body Scrub🚿🛁

This body scrub can be used on your body, face or lips and is made with three simple ingredients. Sugar scrubs are great exfoliators as they help to remove dead skin cells, lift away dirt and excess oil as well as stimulating circulation. However, you shouldn’t exfoliate every day. Coconut oil is moisturising and conditioning. Brown sugar is not abrasive and is an inexpensive ingredient.

How to use a body scrub

This body scrub is not difficult and leaves you feeling soft and smooth🍑

Shower: At the end of showering, lightly pat your skin with a towel, leaving a little moisture and apply the scrub in a circular motion to your entire body. When using a sugar scrub on your face, gently apply the sugar scrub in a circular motion. 🚿

Bath: To get the best results it helps to have a nice soak in the tub first, at least 20 minutes. This will help soften the outer layers of skin and make it easier to exfoliate. 🛁

Because of the oil, the shower or bath could be a bit slippery, so be careful.

Face: Apply to the skin in gentle circles and rinse the scrub with lukewarm water. 💆

Lips: 😋

You will need:

  • 1/2 cup base oil; coconut oil, jojoba oil, grapeseed oil, almond oil, or olive oil 1 tablespoon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • a few drops of your favourite essential oils, if desired. I used lavender oil.
  • spoons for mixing
  • mixing bowl
  • measuring spoons
  • sealed container

Add the brown sugar, white sugar and coconut oil to a mixing bowl and rub together using your hands. Add a few drops of your favourite essential oil and mix with a spoon.

Add the body scrub to a sealed container.

Get creative! You can personalise your container. These would make a cute gift for any time of year. 💕🧵🎁
