How to make Moon Water🌕

There is a Supermoon tonight. This post explains how to make Moon Water. Moon Water is simply water that has had time to sit under the light of the full moon and absorb some of its power. What do you do with Moon Water? There are many options…

  • Use it to clean your sacred space, crystals
  • Add it to a ritual bath
  • Dip your brushes in it when you paint
  • Use it to water your plants
  • Create a fragrant room spray by adding essential oils and alcohol
  • Use in an essential oil diffuser
  • Drink it (if you have not added essential oils)
  • To anoint your body as a way of energetically cleansing yourself

I like to use mine as a room spray, to water the flowers in my room and in my paintbrush jar 🙂

you will need:

  • Jar
  • Water
  • Incense/sage/paolo santa
  • Water-safe Crystals (optional)
  • Essential oils (optional)

Use incense to clean your crystals, the jar and the space around it.

Add water-safe crystals to the jar.

Add water to the jar.

Add a few drops of essential oils (if using and don’t plan on drinking the water). You can use a lid if you wish but this is optional. Using a lid will keep the water clean.

Say an affirmation or prayer to set an intention for your full moon ritual.

Put your Moon Water under the Full Moon to charge overnight.

Wake up in the morning and collect it.

New Moon🌚

In astronomy, a new moon marks the first lunar phase. A new moon symbolises new beginnings. Many people use the energy of a new moon when starting a new project or to achieve their goals. There is a full moon approximately every 30 days. This is the length of time it takes for the Moon to go through one whole lunar phase cycle.

The Moon’s phases and the months of the year are connected – the word ‘month’ takes its root from the word ‘moon’. During April and May this year there will be a ‘supermoon’.

During a New Moon, the Sun and the Moon are aligned. The Sun and the Earth are on opposite sides of the moon. The side of the moon facing the Earth receives no direct sunlight and is lit only by dim sunlight reflected from Earth. The Earth and Sun are at the same celestial longitude. The Moon is only ‘New’ for a moment, when the when the Sun and the Moon are directly aligned in the sky.

The energy of a new moon lasts approximately three days before and after the lunation. The moon phases can affect our mind, body and emotions.

What to do during the new moon:
  • Write down your intentions and what you’re looking to manifest
  • Make a vision board
  • Choose an affirmation
  • Take a new-moon refresher bath; use essential oils, light candles, play your favourite music
  • Light a candle
  • Create a sacred space or meditation station – an intentional space to invite new moon energy into your life
  • Try something new

Chakras🧘🕯️💫

You may have heard of Chakras at a yoga class, meditation class or energy healing session such as Reiki. The word Chakra translates to ‘wheel‘ or ‘disk’ in Sanskrit. There are 7 main Chakras, each corresponding to a specific organ as well as spiritual, psychological, physical and emotional states. Chakras are energy vortexes that are placed in 7 different points on the spinal column. Within each Chakra is a ‘Prana’, or the ultimate healing energy🌙⭐ If a Chakra is open and aligned, it means energy can run freely and harmony exists between the physical body mind and spirit. If a Chakra is closed, it means the Chakra is blocked or misaligned. It is believed that Chakra stones rebalance your Chakras. Reiki can also help you to balance your Chakras.

When the Crown Chakra is blocked, we may feel a sense of disconnection, you may feel narrow-minded. Unlike other Chakras, the Crown Chakra is only fully open during yoga or meditative exercises. When the Crown Chakra is open, it is thought to keep all other Chakras are open and to bring the person bliss and elightenment.
Ajna (Third-Eye Chakra)
Intuition, Sixth-Sense, Imagination
Location: Between the eyes, on the forehead

When the Third-Eye Chakra is blocked, you may be closed-minded, cynical, untrusting or have trouble listening to your inner thoughts. When the Third-Eye Chakra is open and in alignment, it’s thought that you will follow your intuition ,are able to see the big picture, may have psychic abilities, a higher consciousness and strong inner wisdom.

When your throat chakra is blocked, you may feel like you can’t voice your voice or truth. If this Chakra is overactive, you may be overly talkative, not listen to others, dominate conversations, gossip, speak without thinking. When this Chakra is open, you may communicate your emotions in healthy ways. You may also become better at listening to others and honouring their truths without judgement.
Anahata (Heart Chara)
Love, Joy, Inner Peace
Location: Center of chest, above the heart
Colour: Green
Crystals: Rose Quartz, Jade, Malachite
Element: Air
Yoga Pose: Camel Pose, Reverse Plank, Upward-facing dog, Back Bends
When the Heart Chakra is blocked, you will have difficulty opening up to the people in their life. You may feel angry, hatred or jealousy towards others. When this Chakra is overactive you be be self-sacrificing, codependent, giving too much and putting others first at your detriment. When this Chakra is aligned and balanced, love and compassion flow freely.
Manipura (Solar Plexus Chakra)
Self-worth, self-esteem, self-confidence
Location: Upper abdomen in the stomach area
Colour: Yellow
Crystals: Amber, Citrine, Pyrite
Element: Fire
Yoga Pose: Boat Pose, Twists, Warrior III
When the Solar Plexus Chakra is blocked, you may feel shame, inferior, submissive, self-doubt or may struggle to be your most authentic self. An unbalance Solar Plexus Chakra can cause you to be domineering, perfectionist, judgemental or critical. Those with an open and aligned Solar Plexus Chakras feel free to express their true-selves and awaken their true inner personal power. You will have willpower, assertiveness and a healthy self-esteem.
Svadhisthana (Sacral or Pelvic Chakra)
Creativity, Sexuality, Pleasure, Abundance
Location: Below the bellybutton
Colour: Orange
Crystals: Carnelian, Tiger’s eye, Sunstone
Element: Water
Yoga Pose: Pigeon Pose, Goddess pose, Warrior II
When the Sacral Chakra is blocked, you may feel out of control, uninspired creatively or have a low libido. When the Sacral Chakra is open you may experience pleasure, sensuality, deep emotions, passion, optimism.
Muladhara (Root Chakra)
Security, Belonging, Survival
Location: Base of spine, in the tailbone area
Colour: Red
Crystals: Red jasper, onyx, hematite
Element: Earth
Yoga Pose: Malasana squats, Mountain pose, Warrior I
When the root chakra is blocked or out of balance, you can become needy, threatened, have low self-esteem, or self-destructive behaviours. When the Root Chakra is open, you feel strong, confident and grounded; you can stand up on your own two feet and take care of yourself.

Yoga and meditation🧘

I have recently started doing yoga and meditating more often. I was secretary of the yoga society at University this year, where I met lots of lovely likeminded people and helped organise events such as a morning swimrise, Tea for Thought, Cacao Ceremony and Mandala workshop. We often had food delivered from local vegetarian restaurants too.

Anybody can do yoga. Yoga is very beneficial, particularly if you’re an emotional sponge like me. There are lots of yoga channels with trained instructors on youtube. In todays world, we are swayed by other peoples opinions, beliefs and values. Yoga aligns you with your soul, inner being, true purpose and core values. Yoga connects you with you. Your ‘true self’. It is awakening, replenishing and reviving.

It helps to have a good yoga mat, one of which is on my shopping list. Things that may help you to relax are essential oils, candles and yoga music (lots on spotify) (be careful not to burn the house down). You can do yoga or meditation for as long as you want. It can be ten minutes, half an hour, or longer. You can do yoga or meditate alone, or you can do it with others, although this may be distracting and you may not feel the full benefits. Some people do yoga or meditate every day. If you only have time to do yoga once a week it is still beneficial.
