Vibes✨

Vibration: ‘a state of being, the atmosphere, or the energetic quality of a person, place, thought, or thing’

#Vibes

‘Your energy introduces you before you even speak’

Have you ever caught yourself saying ‘I liked the vibe of that café’ ‘That dude has weird vibes‘ ‘ I really like her vibe’ ‘We were vibing’

You can manifest change according to how you direct your thoughts and emotions

The higher your vibration is, the more in touch you are with your higher self

The lower your vibration is, the more out of sync you are with your higher self, and the more conflict you experience in life

Everything in life is vibration’- Albert Einstein

Sasha Sky- Doubts🎹

Listen here:

Follow Instagram Youtube

Sasha Sky 21 years of age. She was born and raised in North East of England and in 2019 relocated to London to pursue her career in performing.
Sasha is very passionate about both dancing and music, and always has been. She attended college at New College Durham for 4 years. Following that, she took a 2 year Acting BTEC course as well as a 2 year Music BTEC course. Sasha says both these courses 100% helped her get to where she is today. Prior to college, Sasha admits she had quite low self-esteem and next to no confidence, she was also suffering with OCD, Anxiety and Depression, while not actually knowing or understanding. Her song “Doubts” is written about that experience.

About her new single:

“Doubts” is quite a powerful song for me personally. This track is probably one of the most raw, honest and authentic songs I’ve written when it comes to my mental health. But I also like that the lyrics are kind of subtle in some ways, so that the listen can interpret the lyrics in their own way and maybe make it meaningful for themselves and their current experience.

Blue Monday🟦

The third Monday in January is considered ‘the most depressing day of the year’. Why is this you may ask? The holidays are over, the weather is fairly miserable and many Resolutions of the previous year have failed. Below I have created a list of things to do if you are having a rough day. 🍃

  • Call a friend or family member
  • Cook a nice meal or learn a new recipe
  • Journal your feelings
  • Listen to your favourite music
  • Go for a walk
  • Practice a hobby that you enjoy (or learn a new one)
  • Write a list of things and people that make you happy
  • Learn a new skill
  • Take a break from social media
  • Go through who you follow on social media and unfollow anyone that doesn’t make you feel empowered, informed or inspired
  • Spend time in nature
  • Meet friends for a coffee
  • Visit a neighbour – think, are there any old people living nearby who might enjoy a chat and a cup of tea? These people might be living alone and could do with some help or company.
  • Do some gardening
  • Do some yoga or meditation
  • Wear a face mask
  • Have a bubble bath
  • Change your bedsheets and pjs
  • Have some icecream
  • Watch a funny movie
  • Make a nice cup of tea to have with your favourite biscuit
  • Cry!

😢

It is ok and good to cry when you feel sad. Anybody and everybody should cry every now and then (cool people cry too). Crying releases endorphins and oxytocin. Suppressing emotions has detrimental effects in the long-run and can cause depression, anxiety or physical stress on your body. (Sadness and depression are not the same thing- many people use these terms interchangeably).

Chakras🧘🕯️💫

You may have heard of Chakras at a yoga class, meditation class or energy healing session such as Reiki. The word Chakra translates to ‘wheel‘ or ‘disk’ in Sanskrit. There are 7 main Chakras, each corresponding to a specific organ as well as spiritual, psychological, physical and emotional states. Chakras are energy vortexes that are placed in 7 different points on the spinal column. Within each Chakra is a ‘Prana’, or the ultimate healing energy🌙⭐ If a Chakra is open and aligned, it means energy can run freely and harmony exists between the physical body mind and spirit. If a Chakra is closed, it means the Chakra is blocked or misaligned. It is believed that Chakra stones rebalance your Chakras. Reiki can also help you to balance your Chakras.

“In the darkest moments of the year, when we need it most, we make magic.”

Nathan’s latest single is the magic we need this Winter. ‘The Boy Who Learned To Fly’ sounds like an overlapping Studio Ghibli and Pixar masterpiece, and it wraps us in a world just as beautiful…

The song describes a boy who sees his father crying for the first time. There are layers to it’s story but the message is distilled into its final lyrics: “You will grow into a man, and it’s okay to cry.”

Getting to the core of this song, we find the message of male vulnerability and mental health, but the message is by no means one sided. Typical of a Nathan Mac song it’s written to speak to everyone. Who hasn’t seen their heros fail or falter? It’s something we all remember. In fact, Nathan had this to say about his latest single:

“Everyone has a story about this. When I sing this song to people, it seems to compel them to tell me about the first time they saw their father, or mother, or older sibling cry. The sheer amount of stories I’ve been told in response tells me that I’ve struck some kind of ‘chord’ with this song.”

Once again, produced by Brian Dwyer, the blend of organic and synthetic instruments is undeniably genius. The backbone of this track is the delicate, trickling guitar and consoling vocals. When combined with pristine synths and an inspired typewriter percussion, the song takes on an epic and complex life of its own.
At the very centre of this song you find Nathan Mac, writing about his own relationship to his father. This intimacy can be felt deeply in the lyrics, music, and imagery. The subject of male intimacy features in many of his songs, yet to be released. Could this be a recurring theme in the ‘Start of Something Blue’? We’ll just have to wait and see.

As one of Hotpress’ ‘Young & Emerging’, this 28 year old Dubliner has not stopped developing his craft as a songwriter and performer.

2020 has seen the launch of his ‘Start of Something Blue’ project with his first major single “Better Off Without You”. With 100,000+ streams across platforms, Nathan has seen interviews and radio play on RTE 1, Spin Southwest, Dublin City FM, and a variety of other stations nationwide.
Nathan’s flair for the spectacular is now using the appeal of pop music to package careful messages and philosophies to a wider and wider audience. Songs about ‘Womb envy’, ‘Skin hunger’ and ‘Male intimacy’ are just the tip of his lyrical iceberg.

Dublin-based singer/ songwriter Honas is set to release a powerful indie/folk/pop tune, “I Can Get You Out of This.” With reverby guitars, ambient synths, and energetic drums, Honas creates a cinematic soundscape complete with a compelling vocal performance.

Honas says, “The song is about having a friend or loved one thats having a hard time mentally. It’s about standing on the outside, wishing you could help but not quite sure how. It’s about feeling helpless.

He goes on to say, “I started writing the song about five years ago, but then moved away from it. I had an experience in a similar vein that brought the song back into my head. As I started living it again, I completed the song in a new light.”

Sonically, he says, “The hypnotic acoustic riff carries the whole way through the song. I wanted to create an atmosphere that conveyed the song’s meaning. I’ve always been drawn to ambient sounds, swells and evolving tones, to create something really immersive. We wanted an energetic, aggressive, chaotic drum sound, the result being a mix of programmed sounds and real drums.”

The song was recorded by Adam Redmond in Flaked Studios, where Adam helped sonically bring the song to life. The pair were inspired by the likes of Bon Iver, Dermot Kennedy, and Ben Howard.

The Irish singer-songwriter combines honest, raw songwriting with an ambient sonic palette. He has written and produced with several artists, as well as being a key part of Irish indie-outfit Orchid Collective playing bass and songwriting. The band was the outlet for his music for many years, though he was still writing on his own. He ended up with a group of songs he was happy with, and came across producer Adam Redmond. In 2019 he turned his attention to his own debut album. His first three singles have amassed over 1.7 million streams on Spotify, landed on several Spotify editorial playlists, and gained acclaim from several major blogs and publications.

loveyourself,relationships

Love yourself💖

Everyone experiences insecurities and self-esteem issues at some stage of their life. As I grow older, I am learning to love who I am, recognise my self worth and recognise and appreciate my good qualities. What’s not to love about Jo <333🥰🥰🥰

Whether you have been bullied, had body image issues, didn’t have many friends, had an unsupportive family, no hobbies or interests, didn’t talk about openly about your true feelings, had anxiety, parents have low self-esteem, didn’t perform well at school.. there are many reasons that can cause someone to have a low self-confidence. People who make you feel as if you are unworthy or unlovable are not the people you need in your life. Like attracts like. People who do not even like or respect themselves attract the same. People who respect themselves and respect others will attract the same. Don’t let someone get comfortable lying to you and disrespecting you

I am 23 now and would say I am pretty confident in myself. I believe you can be confident without being arrogant. I have dreams, ambitions, a good friend group and get on well with my family. I know I have lots of good qualities and that I am a good, loving person. I am smart, pretty, friendly and happy (most of the time). I find that spending more time at my hobbies and what I enjoy makes me a happier person. Not engaging or showing any interest with people who could not care less about my feelings is a weight off my shoulders. I am spending more time doing soul-nourishing activities such as art, photography, yoga, mindfulness and baking. More soul less ego🕊️ I find that I am singing a lot these days, a good indicator of my happiness and wellbeing. Inner peace is the new success 🕯️ There are many negatives in the world nowadays, such as racism, discrimination, health problems and more. Investing time doing things you love is a good way to build self-esteem, confidence and happiness. Spending time with friends often has a positive impact on one’s emotional health.

I have volunteered a lot throughout University and have found this is a good way to meet like-minded people, build self-assurance and team-building skills. Whether it is an hour a month or more, it makes me feel more productive and more valued. Family relationships can be strengthened by doing weekend activities. Problems with body image and bullying can vary from age to age and can fluctuate throughout one’s lifetime. The only way to deal with bullies is to not give them the reaction they want from you and to report it. Body image confidence can change from one day to the next, but if you focus on your good qualities rather than what you are insecure about you will realise you have a lot more good qualities than bad. Social media plays a big part in todays world regarding how people feel about their bodies. It is important to know that images are photoshopped and not real. Comparison is the thief of joy👀

Another part of learning to love yourself is knowing what people you should be keeping in your life. If someone does not value you or makes you questions your worth, why are they around? If someone is calling you names or picking on you, why would you have to put up with that? There are a gazillion people on this planet and knowing that you deserve to be treated with respect is an important step of learning to love yourself. Don’t let people use you, take advantage of you, label you, or determine your self-worth. You know yourself better than anyone. You know your past experiences, values and what you stand for. Don’t let anyone else tell you otherwise. Know your worth👑 and slay👠

Comment below what your thoughts are💭
