Protect Your Energy🧘🔋✨

Being tapped into our energy and the energy of those around us can be beneficial. If you are someone who is sensitive to the emotions of those around you or someone who is easily influenced by the energies and opinions of others, this blogpost may be helpful. If you are an empath or highly sensitive person, soaking up negative energy of those around you can leave you feeling drained and exhausted. If someone or something is mentally draining you, you are going to feel terrible. Protecting your energy is important for your mental and physical health and determines your overall happiness. 🧘

Below are some ways you can protect your emotional energy and inner peace

  • Tune into how you are feeling
  • Trust in yourself
  • Be less reactive, or non-reactive
  • Learn to say No to people who drain you. Do you often say “yes” to things you don’t feel like doing, just to be polite, or because you feel like you have to?
  • Please yourself before pleasing others, your needs are important as anybody else’s. Being a people-pleaser can take a toll on your wellbeing
  • Set healthy boundaries and establish healthy relationships
  • Be aware of who or what changes your energy.
  • Let go of things you cannot control
  • Repeat positive affirmations
  • Avoid gossiping
  • Avoid comparing yourself to others
  • Speak kindly to yourself and to others
  • Practice Meditation
  • Spend time in nature
  • Spend some time alone every now and then
  • Use crystals
  • Use essential oils
  • Visualise a bubble of protection around you

It is no secret that toxic people are skilled at draining the life out of you. Cutting energy vampires out of your life or consciously avoiding these leeches will cause a drastic improvement in your psychological wellbeing, happiness and quality of life. Nobody is obliged to stay in a toxic environment or be around these types of people.

You may have heard of Chakras at a yoga class, meditation class or energy healing session such as Reiki. The word Chakra translates to ‘wheel‘ or ‘disk’ in Sanskrit. There are 7 main Chakras, each corresponding to a specific organ as well as spiritual, psychological, physical and emotional states. Chakras are energy vortexes that are placed in 7 different points on the spinal column. Within each Chakra is a ‘Prana’, or the ultimate healing energy🌙⭐ If a Chakra is open and aligned, it means energy can run freely and harmony exists between the physical body mind and spirit. DIY- Body Scrub🚿🛁

This body scrub can be used on your body, face or lips and is made with three simple ingredients. Sugar scrubs are great exfoliators as they help to remove dead skin cells, lift away dirt and excess oil as well as stimulating circulation. However, you shouldn’t exfoliate every day. Coconut oil is moisturising and conditioning. Brown sugar is not abrasive and is an inexpensive ingredient.

How to use a body scrub

This body scrub is not difficult to make and leaves you feeling soft and smooth🍑

Shower: At the end of showering, lightly pat your skin with a towel, leaving a little moisture and apply the scrub in a circular motion to your entire body. When using a sugar scrub on your face, gently apply the sugar scrub in a circular motion. 🚿

Bath: To get the best results it helps to have a nice soak in the tub first, at least 20 minutes. This will help soften the outer layers of skin and make it easier to exfoliate. 🛁

Because of the oil, the shower or bath could be a bit slippery, so be careful.

Face: Apply to the skin in gentle circles and rinse the scrub with lukewarm water. 💆

Lips: 😋

You will need:

  • 1/2 cup base oil; coconut oil, jojoba oil, grapeseed oil, almond oil, or olive oil 1 tablespoon
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup white sugar
  • a few drops of your favourite essential oils, if desired. I used lavender oil.
  • spoons for mixing
  • mixing bowl
  • measuring spoons
  • sealed container

Add the brown sugar, white sugar and coconut oil to a mixing bowl and rub together using your hands. Add a few drops of your favourite essential oil and mix with a spoon.

Add the body scrub to a sealed container.

Get creative! You can personalise your container. These would make lovely gifts. 💕🧵🎁

The science of body language🤝

‘Kinesics’. A person’s demeanour and their behaviours can tell you a lot about them and their personality. You do not have to know the person and you may have never spoken to them. Body language can be subtle or blatantly obvious and can reveal a lot about a person’s true feelings.

Positive body language: Politeness, handshaking, holding hands, hugs, smiling, positive greetings, waving ;

Portray feelings of happiness, wellness, genuiness, trust, warmth, compassion, openness, love, positivity, authenticity

Negative body language: Arms folded, eyes covered, lack of eye contact, frown, clenched fists, smirk, faced away, talking fast, poor stance, hands in pockets;

Portray feelings of stress, anger, lies, secrecy, arrogance, disappointment, rage, hostility, frustration, hate, boredom, impatience, nervousness

Crossed legs can indicate a variety of one’s intent, depending on the context; engagement in conversation, relaxed mood, unfamiliarity, dominance, not receptive to open communication.

The list goes on and there is a lot of research done on this🧍🔬

Kombucha Review🍋📝

My friend Alanna is a fan of this Galway-based beverage, so when I saw All About Kombucha sitting cool in the fridge section of McCambridges shop, I couldn’t resist. All About Kombucha is available in two flavours; Organic Ginger&Lemon and Organic Raspberry. I decided to be adventurous and go for the Organic Raspberry flavour.

Product Name: All About Kombucha Original Raspberry
Store purchased: McCambridge’s of Galway
Price: €3-5
Volume: 330ml
Ingredients: Water (filtered), Green Tea, Black Tea, White Tea, Raspberry Tisane (Apple, Hibicus, Grape, Rose Hip, Natural Flavouring, Pineapple, Raspberry (2%), Strawberry, Cornflower Blue), Cane Sugar, Kombucha Culture.
Allergens: Ingredients are certified organic🌿

First impression: Interesting..not too sweet. When I opened the lid there was a fizz, with bubbles rising to the top. Probably because it was the last couple of days in the fridge. I give the bubbles a minute to settle. There were some raspberry seeds at the base of the glass bottle. I take another sip, closing my eyes and pretending I am sitting by a pool in sunny Spain. The drink is cool and refreshing, with a sweet after-taste. Cons: There is not a strong berry taste. This drink would be perfect for a picnic or a summers day at the beach.

Would I buy again?
8/10Yes
